Winter in June
We had Tracy out early June last year and had her look at our roof for hail damage from the previous year. She found damage to our roof and helped us contact our insurance company. They came out and met with Tracy, agreed there was damage, and approved a new roof for our home. Within a week her crew was out and roofed our home and outbuilding and we were totally satisfied.
Two weeks after completion we had the misfortune of having a hail storm that was like no other. It started out as baseball sized hail and piled up enough hail to ride snowmobiles on-up to six inches deep in places. The hail lasted two days in the yard despite being 80 degrees. There was not a leaf left on a tree, and needless to say the damage was extensive.
I called Tracy 10 minutes after the storm, and she arranged for tarps to protect our home as we had broken windows and extensive damage literally shredding the vinyl siding. And so started our summer of construction.
We contacted our insurance agent and Tracy showed up to consult. The insurance company stated they had never seen such extensive damage from hail. It was the first of many visits. They gave us an initial estimate and Tracy and crew got started on repairs. There were many things left off the estimate, and Iron River continually fought on our behalf to have our home restored to original condition.
Most of our summer revolved around getting our home back in shape. The people at Iron River were always in contact and on top of every aspect. I even got calls from Tracy when she was on vacation.
We are totally satisfied with all things Iron River has helped with and have recommended her to many neighbors and friends who are also satisfied.
I was recently cutting down trees from the hail storm, and my next door neighbor was talking that they still weren’t done over a year later, and wishes he would have used Iron River after watching our claim process.
Thanks to Tracy, Melissa, and all the crew from Iron River. I recommend them for all aspects of work on your home.
Matt Antoine-Men’s Skeleton Athlete of the Year
Former employee Matt Antoine continues his impressive journey on the way to the 2010 Winter Olympics.
The US Bobsled and Skeleton Federation celebrated it’s successful 2008-2009 season during national team camp in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Matt was honored with three awards-the Men’s Skeleton Athlete of the Year, Men’s Skeleton Athletes’ Choice and the Skeleton Rookie of the Year. Antoine shocked the international Field by claiming Bronze on the daunting 2010 Olympic course in Whistler, in his first ever World Cup competition. Antoine moved up to the World Cup circuit after winning Gold in the Lake Placid Intercontinental Cup, and finished his rookie World Cup season ranked as the best in the US.

Our roofs speak for themselves
On Wednesday, August 19th, a tornado hit just south of downtown Minneapolis. One of our customers was located right in the heart of the devastated area. After the sirens had stopped and everyone had come up from their basements, the damage assessments began.
Trees were down, debris was everywhere. Windows were broken, roofs were torn off. Many of the neighbors were missing shingles, some were missing roof boards, and many were leaking. Even now there are blue tarps tacked onto roofs everywhere, to try to prevent further damage.
When our homeowners went outside to see what kind of shape their home was in, they were amazed. Not even one shingle missing.
Our roofs speak for themselves.

Winner
Courtney from Waconia was the winner of the firepit at this year’s Carver County Fair. The demolition derby was fun as always, and the food was incredibly tasty. A lot of friends and past customers stopped by, and we met quite a few new customers, too. Altogether a great time, but I am glad it’s over til next year.
Carver County Fair!
Iron River will be at the Carver County Fair in Waconia from August 5-9. We’ll have a booth set up with plenty of swag to hand out for the kids and adults. You can also enter to win a fire pit with all the accessories for s’mores from our drawing. Stop in and say hello, meet some of our people, take a look at new products available.
Testimonial-St. Louis Park
On May 31st, 2008, a horrible hailstorm came through my neighborhood. I walked from room to room in my home, hoping not to find the elements had come in through a broken window. I watched as the hail piled up on my front steps and gardens, at the same time thinking “My God, is it ever going to end? It has to be coming right through the house!” The sound was incredible. Once the air cleared, I, like all my neighbors, went out to assess the damage. I was lucky, only one broken window. But it looked as though someone had shot golf balls at my house from a cannon.
I, of course, called my insurance agent. They came out and did an assessment and sent me a check. I did a little research online and found Iron River Construction. I made the call, and both Tracy and Paul were at my house that day. They both did some inspecting and we talked over what they thought was needed for repairs. Paul met with my insurance adjuster again and was able to get more repairs covered that had been missed on the original assessment. Paul and I worked out materials, colors and repair schedules. Workers showed up when they were supposed to, did good work and were tidy about it. I did have a touch up or two, and again Paul and Melissa were all over getting things done in a timely fashion.
I am very pleased with the outcome of the work done by Iron River on my house. The staff was always fast, fun and friendly each time we met. I have and will continue to recommend Iron River for any contractor work needed to everyone I know.

Meet Drew
Being the caretaker of a 100 year old apartment building, Field Representative Drew Marquesen knows just how unpredictable Minnesota weather can be. Last season, two trees and a power line were blown into his building, but luckily only minor damage was sustained. For Drew, it is always important to be as prepared as possible when a storm hits, and that starts with a great roof. Drew offers free roof and siding inspections metro wide. “I want to help homeowners protect their homes and their investment,” says Drew. “Even if a roof is in peak condition, it is always helpful to know how to protect your most important asset in case a storm, or tree, hits your home.”
Decks, Decks, Decks!
With all the gorgeous weather we’ve been having lately, homeowners are starting to dream about decks, and some are even thinking about building three and four season porches to enjoy every last minute of the sun.
We’ve been building decks all last week and this week we are starting another one.
Some decks are simple cedar with aluminum spindles, some are using composite material such as Trex or Rhino decking. There are many patterns and colors available with composite decking. Spindles also have many more options-iron, wood, aluminum, and composite in a variety of styles, shapes, and colors.
Whether it is a simple deck, or an elaborate dream to turn the outdoors into living space all year round, we can help make it happen.
Missing Shingles
In the past month, Iron River Construction has installed 11 new roofs that were paid for by insurance. Many of these roofs were just missing one or two shingles, but the original roofing material is no longer available-therefore the entire roof needs to be replaced because there was no way to match the existing shingles. There are several types of shingles and colors that fall under this rule- let one of our field reps come out and see if your roof qualifies for a complete replacement.
